Q. One of my coworkers told me she didn’t think my sandals are appropriate for work. They are white sandals with a 3 inch heel, very appropriate and classic. I looked at our handbook and I didn’t see a word about sandals. Should I ignore her?

A. If she is someone who generally makes unsolicited comments that other people ignore, then politely ignore her advice.

Unless she is your supervisor, you are not responsible for taking her dress code advice.

If this is a one time thing and she seem to take it seriously you might ask a trusted work friend whether or not you need to revise your footwear choices.

Some companies only let you wear closed toe shoes for safety reasons (or at least that’s what they say).
